The Chagossian Fund at Sussex Community Foundation is a grants programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
This fund is particularly aimed at voluntary sector organisations, grassroots community groups and established local charities supporting Chagossian people living in Crawley and other parts of Sussex.
More information
Following the signing of a treaty between the UK and Mauritius on 22 May 2025, the UK Government has committed to increase support to Chagossians living in the UK through new and existing projects. We want to reassure you that the agreement the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has with Sussex Community Foundation to manage the Chagossian Fund will continue until at least its current end date of March 2028. Both the Foundation and the FCDO are committed to supporting Chagossian people living in Crawley and other parts of Sussex through this Fund.
We are holding an information sharing session in partnership with Crawley Community Action about the Chagossian Fund on Saturday 5 July from 2 - 5pm at the Bewbush Centre. This will be an opportunity for groups who have received funding to showcase their projects and activities and for people to learn more about the Fund, how to apply and the support that is available to community groups. Please contact Lucy Rayner, Grants Officer, to find out more or phone 01273 409440.
The guidance on applying has been recently updated, so make sure to read it through before applying.
