Sussex Community Foundation appoints new Chief Executive

Sussex Community Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Julian Caddy as our new Chief Executive, joining the Foundation at an exciting moment as we prepare to enter our 20th anniversary year.

Julian has worked in the community and charities sector for more than 20 years and brings extensive experience in leadership, partnership-building and community impact, having previously been CEO of Brighton Fringe Festival for twelve years and, most recently, led the reinvigoration of Scarborough Fair. He is also currently a trustee at Brighton Youth Centre.

“We are thrilled to welcome Julian to Sussex Community Foundation. This is a pivotal moment for the Foundation and the communities we serve across Sussex – and Julian has the vision, energy and strategic leadership needed to guide the Foundation into its next chapter,” said Mark Spofforth, Chair at Sussex Community Foundation.

“Sussex Community Foundation is a vital and trusted organisation for so many people, and has been for twenty years, so I am both excited and grateful to have the chance to continue and develop the brilliant work that it does. I can’t wait to get started,” said Julian Caddy, CEO of Sussex Community Foundation.

Julian will start at the Foundation at the beginning of May 2026. Over the coming months, he will be meeting partners, fundholders, charities and community leaders across Sussex as part of an initial listening and learning programme.
