Good News Brighton

Good News Brighton was founded in Moulsecoomb, with the vision to embed into the local community, establish real friendships, stimulate lasting positive change and identify and develop local leaders. They consulted with and worked alongside, the community to start projects to tackle challenges faced by local people.

A grant from Sussex Community Foundation supported the organisation to run multiple projects locally, including the Good News Shed.

Pete’s story:

Pete started attending the Good News Shed in 2022.

"My wife died and I was very lonely and sad. I had a major breakdown. The Shed is my salvation. Don't know what I would do without it. Meet loads of nice people. Make friends. Occupying some of my time that I would have been on my own. I consider I'm fully supported by the shed and the team."

Pete has become so invested in attending the Shed, that he asked to be a volunteer to support the Shed lead. Pete has now been trained in safeguarding and First Aid. He has been such an asset to the Shed and shares many ideas to make the operations of the Shed smoother. He is currently reviewing the Health and Safety policy and making suggestions. He is also assisting with an up-to-date risk assessment now that the Shed is functioning at capacity.

He is an asset to the Good News Shed. Attending the Shed has grown his confidence and reduced his feeling of isolation after the passing of his wife. He is an integral part of the Good News Brighton community, and we are so blessed to have him!
