Community Chest Award winners

These are the Sussex good causes that have shared in the annual £50,000 cash giveaway from family brewer.

Sussex Community Foundation are pleased to have once again supported Hall & Woodhouse to deliver their Community Chest Awards in Sussex.

The Hall & Woodhouse annual Community Chest, now in its 21st year, awarded a share of £50,000 to community groups and good causes across Sussex and the greater Portsmouth area, from the family brewers and pub owners.

Every year, hundreds of applications are received for a share of the money and a judging panel carefully considers them all.

“Drawing on our advice and local knowledge of Sussex, we’re delighted to partner Hall & Woodhouse in delivering their annual Community Chest Awards which, through the work of local community groups, make such a positive impact on the lives of communities across H&W’s trading area in the county.”

Family Director Mark Woodhouse explained:

“The Community Chest was founded over 20 years ago to support and strengthen the local communities of which our pubs are an integral part of. It is simply the right thing to do to maintain our offer of financial support for these local organisations that play such vital roles in our communities.”

This year’s recipients included:

Bell Tower Drop-In; Care for the Carers; Chichester Area Mental Health Support Foundation; Chichester Information Shop for Young People; CYCALL; Disabled Sailors Association; Fabrica; Hub4Stuff; The Juno Project; Kangaroos Mid Sussex; Mary How Trust for Cancer Prevention; Pelican Parcels; Pippa’s Group; Springboard; Sussex Wheelchair Basketball; Terry’s Place; Waypoint Hub.

Since 2002, the Community Chest has donated some three quarters of a million pounds to 900 causes across the south of England and works in partnership with both the Dorset and Sussex Community Foundations.

Applications will soon be invited for the 2023 cash allocation.
